Wilfred Jackal

United by a love of Radiohead and New Order, Wilfred Jackal began as a group of high school friends getting together and honing their chops playing everything from Queen to Alice Cooper to Babyshambles and the Beastie Boys. In 2008, after a lineup change that brought some old friends into the fold, the band began to really develop its sound: tight, infectious, hook-laden pop, driven by big guitars and pulsating keys and underpinned by a razor-sharp rhythm section, with lead singer Cayle Stephens' powerful voice front and centre.
In 2009, What Is (And Will Never Be), one of the band's first singles, gained the band some notice, with Inpress calling it 'one of the sweetest power pop tunes of the year so far' and Sydney radio station FBi making the band their Unsigned Artist of the Week.
Since then, Wilfred Jackal's dynamic, energetic, hook-laden sound has seen the band pick up shows alongside Yves Klein Blue, Howl, The Last Dinosaurs, Bertie Blackman, Miami Horror, Money for Rope and Grafton Primary.
In 2011, with a great new single, Rooms, out on Gaga Digi, and a big year planned, we're about to hear a lot more about Wilfred Jackal.
