Red Ink: 'Audrey'

Hailing from Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, and shaped and inspired by its rugged coast, Red Ink have spent years under the radar, patiently honing and sharpening their sound. Broadly influenced but strikingly original, the ambitious four-piece make music not constrained by pop-punk or indie-pop or any of the labels thrown at them. Red Ink are a band constantly in search of the perfect Red Ink song – the kind of all-guns-blazing guitar-pop that doesn’t leave you thinking you’re listening to pop songs.

Inspired by the traditions of Manchester, New York, Glasgow, Melbourne and, er, Rihanna, Audrey, the band’s killer first single, starts off with a loping bassline before being sparked into life by a strangling guitar riff and a synth line that drags the entire tune onto the dancefloor. Imagine Franz Ferdinand, Queens Of The Stone Age, Faker and Eskimo Joe rumbled into a oversized blender. Check out the video for Audrey below.
