Introducing... The Peelies!

All-girl Montreal party starters The Peelies started out in 2009, inspired by 'a mean goddess who throws fire and dance parties'. Since then, the gals' Raincoats-like swagger and perfect mix of French yéyé, punk technique (or lack of) and garage sing-along melodies have inspired superlatives and ecstatic praise in critics and audiences alike, with almost every show the band plays ending up with the crowd chanting 'We are the world, we are The Peelies' in perfect harmony. It's really something.

Inspired equally by their mums and Snatch (Patty Paladin's band, that is, not the blaxploitation flick), The Peelies' sound was best described by Johnson Cummins from Montreal's Mirror: 'If you missed Teen Beat and K Records’ glory days, and have a hankering for some Grade A garage punk laced with ’60s fuzz, The Peelies will not disappoint.'

Amen. The Peelies' debut up, Together Forever, which you can listen to above, is six tracks of utterly infectious, loose, impossibly catchy pop, the kind that makes you sing and throw your limbs about involuntarily. It's the sound of a band clearly enjoying themselves, but who won't be happy until you are too.

Together Forever is out now on iTunes through Gaga Digi.
