Elle Skies is a Melbourne-based singer songwriter who tells the truth with a pure innocence and conviction. Elle's deceptively simple songs are simultaneously fragile and direct, containing both light and dark, warm and cold. Vulnerable and passionate, Elle's beautiful songs and spellbinding live performances have won her a steadily growing legion of fans, both in her home town and beyond.
Elle released her much-loved debut EP, Skyscraper, in 2006. We Could Make Stars..., one of the EP's standout tracks, won Elle first prize in a UK songwriting competition, and multiple tracks found their way onto Australian television.
In late 2011, Elle returned with her second release, the Elle Skies EP. The new ep retains the youthful innocence and directness of Elle's debut, while also showcasing a newfound songwriting maturity.
Produced and mixed by Matt Voigt (Cat Power, Big Scary, Oh Mercy), who also worked on her debut, the Elle Skies EP was recorded with a live band over a handful of sessions at Melbourne's Sing Sing and Abercorn Studios.
Moving seamlessly between the exuberant (Socks And Shoes), the bittersweet (Roundabouts) and the heart breaking (Walk With Me), Elle Skies' five tracks are united by Elle's strong pop sensibility and haunting vocal delivery.
The Elle Skies EP is out now on iTunes.
Elle Skies' debut album, China Doll, Hurt Jewellery, is due in early 2012.
